The eighteenth series of British motoring program Top Gear began on BBC Two and BBC HD, on 29 January 2012, with the usual presenting team of Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, James May and The Stig. At the start of episode 1, a preview of the series was shown, and upcoming features in the series include; Clarkson and May travelling to China to test out some of China's home-made supercars, with the help of The Stig's Chinese Ninja Cousin; Hammond competiting in a NASCAR race in Texas, after learning to drive using a safety car; Clarkson drag racing and blowing up caravans in the process; reviews of the Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Black Edition, Mercedes SLS AMG Roadster, Maserati GranTurismo MC Stradale, BMW M5 F10 and Vauxhall Corsa Nurburgring Edition; the trio racing a set of mobility scooters through central Wales; May flying a jet plane around the test track; Hammond and a co-driver racing the Flying Squirrel in a rally car; Clarkson in a Ferrari F40 racing The Stig on a snowmobile; Clarkson and May building their own three-wheeler and testing it; Clarkson and May racing cars from the 1950s against cars of the present day; a second attempt at Car Darts; and Clarkson and Hammond recreating a movie chase with Ray Winstone and Plan B.
